The 60m² apartment is situated within a large 1950s office and housing block, in a prominent location directly opposite the Vienna Opera.
The renovation of the flat aimed to honor the original 50s flair and retain the authentic materials and fixtures, while opening up the layout and viewing axes through a couple of subtle interventions. The central highlight of the interior is an oak wood veneer wall opposite of the entrance. This wall connects the two main rooms and incorporates not only the door to the bathroom but also a storage and laundry cupboard. The terrazzo floor in the kitchen, which was hidden beneath a layer of vinyl tiles, was restored to its former glory. The bathroom features 10x10cm chessboard ceramic tiles, paying homage to the original flooring.
