The observation tower is situated on Seekopf mountain in the Wachau region of Lower Austria. The sixteen meters high steel structure marks an enticing apex on a hiking trail following the shores of the Danube. The ground floor plan is a 6x6m square, with each level receding by one meter, leaving a top platform of 2x6m.
To heighten the anticipation of the ascent, the main views along the four cascading flights of stairs are obscured by a louvered larch wood façade. Only when one reaches the top, above the treetops, is the full spectacular vista of the Danube valley, with its characteristic wine terraces, laid bare.
